This is a crash course in museum theory and contemporary display practices. Students will leave with an appreciation of museums as not just settings in/on which to conduct research but also resources with which to do inventive research. The course will explore museum research through:- interdisciplinary problematics: with the proliferation of museums what new problematics are emerging at the interfaces of science, technology, art and the public? - experimental methods: with museums increasingly serving as settings for experimentation, how can researchers harness this experimental appetite for their own methodological innovation? - collaborative interventions: in what ways can researchers collaborate with museums to intervene in contemporary public problems?
