Christian Pfleiderer is professor for magnetic materials and head of the chair for the Topology of Correlated Systems. Christian Pfleiderer's research is dedicated to the properties of transition metal and rare earth compounds, with a special interest in quantum phase transitions, conventional and unconventional superconductors, and complex magnetic structures. The experimental tools used in these studies comprise bulk properties under extreme conditions (ultra-low temperatures, high pressures and high magnetic fields), crystal growth of bulk compounds and neutron scattering. Christian Pfleiderer studied Physics at the Universität Tübingen, the University of Denver, and the University of Cambridge, where he received a PhD. Prior to his appointment at TUM he worked at the CEA Grenoble and the Universität Karlsruhe, where he eventually became head of a junior research group funded by the Helmholtzgemeinschaft.
