3D-Printed Building Envelopes

The aim of the research project is to investigate the new potentials of additive manufacturing not only with regard to topology optimization (material efficiency) but, in particular, the integration of façade functions (function integration) via function geometries. The building envelope as the interface between different climatic and building requirements forms a key position here.

Various approaches are being worked on across the board. The first projects within the framework of the TUM Group Additive Manufacturing in Construction have been launched through cooperations with chairs from the TUM Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering.
