Center for Interfaculty Coordination of Electromobility Research at Technische Universität München
The Science Center for Electromobility is headed by three Professors from different departments:
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Georg Herzog
Institute of Energy Conversion Technology
Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
Currently 40 chairs and institutes of 8 departments at TUM are engaged with the research field Electromobility:
The TUM Science Center for Electromobility is embedded in the interdisciplinary research field of the Munich School of Engineering which is an interfaculty institution which is engaged in the research program TUM.Energy that aims for sustainable energy supply and use. Furthermore, the Science Center for Electromobility has excellent contacts to the automotive industry and further research institutions.
What is the Science Center for Electromobility doing?
- It brings together R+D activities concerning electromobility
- It creates additional institutes and competence teams as well as education programmes for electromobility at TUM
- It enables fundamental research for innovative long term developments (mainly in the field of energy storage)
Roots and Mission
The diversity of complex and interdisciplinary problems within the research of electric vehicles are the roots of the TUM Science Center for Electromobility.
It offers an exchange platform to all involved chairs, institutes and companies. Thus, all facing challenges can be solved fast and efficiently.
The Science Center for Electromobility is embedded in the Munich School of Engineering and thereby in the overall strategy for energy research at TUM. Crucial for its work, are practical orientation, collaboration with the industry and the connection of fundamental research and teaching.
By concentrating all the university's competences, the TUM Science Center for Electromobility holds a leading position in the field of electromobility research.
