Working Group Process Simulation

The WG (working group) process simulation aims on implementation of a methodology, which is capable of finding the production-orientated challenges already in the draft of a component and showing the action alternatives to solve them. Therefore the simulation work during the product development process is lowered.

The subprojects 1, 2 and 8 are highly connected inside the WG process simulation. In subproject 8 an analysis tool called Patch-Optimizer is invented, which divides a component into patches under determined rules. Thereby process-specific adjustments for deep drawing and die casting are considered. To automatically generate, analyze and optimize such a patch process expertise from subprojects 1 and 2 as well as expertise in handling FEA models and in programming of subproject 8 are necessary. The observation of the two production processes deep drawing and die casting ensures the transferable adaptability of the patch generation, analysis and optimization. Usage and generation of rules depending on specific processes on application layer of the knowledge-based framework is carried out through an intensive cooperation with the WG product simulation. Furthermore systematic product analyses in form of 3D scans are performed to generate new knowledge for the WG process simulation. A close conjunction between the working groups is needed because product attributes and production processes are highly interdepended. The knowledge-controlled routines of the error assistant and the optimization are consulted to connect knowledge in subproject 8. Because of that the functional surfaces are provided with information. Furthermore in subproject 9 this information is used to assess the structure optimization in consideration of the production process. The WG knowledge management also supports the deduction of rules out of the quality management and rules for the simulation structure from knowledge, which is already available in a company. The working group delivers the superior knowledge-based framework in which the process knowledge is included. Subproject 1 and 2 are providing process knowledge for the WG knowledge management.
