Professor Wolfgang Gläser started the institute experimental physics E21 of the physic-department of the TUM in 1974 and was also responsible for the scientific programm of the research reactor FRM.
Before this time he performed neutron scattering research at the nuclear research center Karlsruhe (KFK), where he was involved in the development of new methods, investigation of molecular systems, super conductors and simple liquide by neutron scattering.
At E21 he initiated the planing and construction of the FRM II and continued neutron scattering research. He also held serveral quest scientific positions at international laboratories, from 1986-89 as director of the institute Laue-Langevin (ILL) Grenoble.
He was awarded with the Bundesverdienstkreuz in 1996 and retired at the end of 2001.
