Praktikum Body Sensor Networks

Ziel und Lernergebnisse

Nach der Bearbeitung des Praktikums haben die Studenten mehrere Lernziele erreicht und Kompetenzen erworben:
1. Erfahrung in der Zusammenarbeit im Team (Abstimmung, Projekt-/Zeitplanung, etc.)
2. Java-basiertes Programmieren von Smartphones mit Android
3. High-Level Programmierung mit automatischer Codegenerierung aus Matlab/Simulink
4. Algorithmen zur Bestimmung der körperlichen Aktivität

Voraussetzung

Grundkenntnisse im Programmieren (Kenntnisse in Java sind von Vorteil), Signalverarbeitung und Matlab

Grading policy:

  • Project work: 70%
  • Presentation: 10%
  • Oral exam: 20%

In the project work, the student will demonstrate the android application that he/she has developed to identify the physical activities using the accelerometer sensor. Basic activities such as “standing”, “walking”, “running” and “jumping” must be recognized. In addition, successful implementation of “step counter” and other additional activities will also be graded. Moreover, the student has to develop a simple GUI which is also considered as the project work and subsequently graded.

The presentation part must include the algorithms used to detect the physical motion, the challenges encountered and the steps followed to overcome these challenges. A clear explanation of the techniques and future improvement strategies for the android app must also be presented. 

In the oral exam, the students will be asked questions on Body sensor networks and android development framework in general.
