The Application phase for the International Winter School  ‘English as a Medium of Instruction’ (EMI) starts now! Old challenges, new competences are now being accepted. The closing date for applications is December 10, 2015.

The course will take place from 01. - 05. February 2016 in Padova, Italy.

The five-day program aims to provide higher education lecturers and professors with the opportunity to experience a professional development program concerning the major issues and challenges involved in teaching academic subjects through English.

Leading national and international experts will present the latest research on both theoretical and methodological aspects related to Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI), with a special emphasis on intercultural communication. During practical sessions, participants will have the opportunity to acquire innovative strategies for teaching their subjects in multicultural academic environments. The course will be conducted in English. Padova is a city blending historical tradition and culture with burgeoning business and service industries. The location makes it easy to reach Venice, the Dolomites, Lake Garda and the spa resorts of Abano and Montegrotto Terme. Almost 500,000 tourists visit Padua each year to marvel at its art and fine heritage of architecture and museums. Its squares, porticoes and old cobbled streets tell the story of a wealthy, beautiful medieval city, which was renowned for its art and culture. We also highly recommend to visit the Venetian Carnival, which will take place from the 23rd of January to the 9th of February 2016.
