Visiting Professor Olajumoke Adenowo

The renowned Nigerian architect Olajumoke Adenowo will be Visiting Professor at the TUM Department of Architecture during May 2019. Hosted by the Chair of Theory and History of Architecture, Art and Design, her stay includes a public lecture and a workshop.

Olajumoke Adenowo is a prominent architect, author and radio show host from Lagos (Nigeria). She was profiled by CNN as “Africa’s Starchitect”. She is the founder of AD Consulting, an international recognised architectural firm, and Awesome Treasures Foundation, an intercontinental philanthropic foundation. Latter pursues the mission to raise 1000 leaders by 2030 working with Women and Youth. She has designed over seventy buildings. 

During her time at TUM, Professor Adenowo will deliver the lecture "Democracy reflected in Form Space and Order: Learning from West Africa’s Ancient Empires" on May 20, 2019. This forms part of the international lecture series "The Architecture of Democracy: Inspirations from the Global South", organised by research associate Dr. Sarah Hegenbart (Chair of Theory and History of Architecture, Art and Design).
Professor Olajumoke Adenowo will also offer a workshop at Haus der Kunst about "Architecture and Space: On Form and Function in Nigeria".
