The next facades conference is setting the focus on adaptive facades: In the same way as natural organism adapt to their environment, adaptive facades are able to adapt to changing dynamic climatic conditions. The COST Action TU1403 "Adaptive Facade Network" is an international scientific network with the aim to harmonise, share and disseminate technological knowledge on adaptive facades on an European level. The conference is the official International Mid-term Conference of the European COST Action TU1403 "Adaptive Facade Network".
During the mid-term conference first results will be presented to stakeholders from industry and design and the public. The goal is to share knowledge and discuss novel facade concepts, effective evaluation tools and design methods for adaptive facades. Researchers as well as planners and professionals in the facade industry are all involved in developing concepts and technologies to increase interior comfort and reduce the energy consumption of buildings. It needs an integrated effort to provide successful and holistic concepts in the development, design and construction and to create a new type of architecture by bridging the disciplines of. At the ne-xt facades conference you are welcome to meet multinational participants from all over Europe: architects, structural and mechanical engineers, facade engineers, specialists in building physics and energy design, material developers, researchers and manufacturers. With that unique forum of outstanding experts we will discuss new developments and technologies for the design and manufacturing of high-performance adaptive building envelopes.
The program is organised in 4 sessions each comprising four short lectures followed by a discussion. Researchers of the COST Action will exchange their ideas with representatives from practice.
