Humboldt Postdoc Research Fellowship for Giorgia Aquilar

After one year of funding by the TUM University Foundation Fellowship (TUFF), Dr. Giorgia Aquilar receives a renowned Carl Friedrich von Siemens Research Fellowship for postdoc researchers by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Dr. Giorgia Aquilar will start this two-year scholarship at the Chair for Urban Development and Regional Planning on August 1st, 2017 to continue her research about urban and landscape transformation.

The research-project of Giorgia Aquilar fits into the intersection of two Focus Areas of the TUM Department of Architecture. Her postdoctoral research project is titled "U.L.TRA. HERITAGE - Urban Landscape TRAnformations of Heritage ".

Giorgia Aquilar explores the spatial strategies which have the potential to intervene productively in the ongoing transformation of cities and landscapes, and Cultural Heritage, History and Criticism: She investigates the historic and cultural dimension and the existent built environment which provides a key for contemporary intervention. Her previous engagement at the IUAV University of Venice through an agreement with UNESCO - title of the research: Heritage and the Contemporary City – is already in this field of research, which she to further developed at TUM and in the city of Munich under the title "Urban Heritage".

Giorgia Aquilar will continue this research as part of the Humboldt Research Fellowship at the Chair for Urban Development and Regional Planning, Prof. Sophie Wolfrum.
