Gastgeber ist der Lehrstuhl für Gebäudetechnologie und Bauklimatik. Die Professur wurde zum Januar 2014 mit Thomas Auer neu besetzt. Dieser entwickelt neue Lehrformate zur Integration von Klimawandel-relevanten Themen in das Architekturstudium.
Die TUM und Delft University of Technology forcieren mit dieser Gastprofessur ihre Kooperationen in Lehre und Forschung. Ziel der Zusammenarbeit sind der fachliche Austausch sowie die Antragstellung in Verbundforschungsprojekten.
Seit 2004 hat Ulrich Knaack ebenfalls eine Professur an der Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe inne. Er ist Co-Gründer des Unternehmens imagine envelope b.v..
Ulrich Knaack "concentrates on the fundamentals of construction, the application of construction materials and elements, and the joints between the elements and materials themselves. The Chair analyses construction principles and the relationship with the production process, and examines unusual constructions and specific parts of buildings, such as outer walls."
