The Renzo Piano Foundation was established in Genoa, which offering a series of internships at the Renzo Piano Building Workshop offices in Genoa and Paris. The six-month internships are entirely funded by the scholarships offered by the Foundation itself. It will take place from September 3rd 2018 to February 15th 2019.

This training program stems from the specific conviction that knowledge can either be transferred through information or else through practical examples and involvement. The Renzo Piano Foundation has chosen the second path. The basic principle is quite simple: it’s “learning by doing”, and the reference model is that of an updated version of the Renaissance “workshop”. The objective of these internships is to provide the students with the opportunity to bridge the gap between their academic knowledge and the realities of the architectural profession. The students will become team members and will play an active role in each stage of the work activities: design, experimentation and construction.

The Renzo Piano Fondazione only accepts students from agreed upon Universities. Each university has its own selection criteria, upon which the Foundation itself has no bearing whatsoever: the names of the students will only be announced once the final decisions have been made by the Faculties. The internship covers a fixed salary plus a monthly payed support for accommodation as well as lunch voutchers „ticket restaurant“ for working days, a one-week hotel paid by the office if needed the first week of internship. This call is open for students of the TUM Department of Architecture.
