Democracy reflected in Form, Space and Order – Lecture by Olajumoke Adenowo

The Visiting Professor Olajumoke Adenowo will deliver the lecture "Democracy reflected in Form Space and Order: Learning from West Africa’s Ancient Empires" at Vorhoelzer Forum on May 20, 2019.

As part of the lecture series "The Architecture of Democracy - Inspirations from the Global South", organised by research associate Dr. Sarah Hegenbart (Chair of Theory and History of Architecture, Art and Design), Adenowo is exploring the architecture and urban planning of the traditional Yoruba architecture of south western Nigeria as an outgrowth of the ancient Oyo empire. Examining Interrelated and associated West African Empires for the expressions of their socio political structure and socio cultural construct in the architecture and urban planning.

Olajumoke Adenowo is a prominent Architect,Philanthropist, Author, Syndicated radio show host and Public speaker who when profiled by CNN was referred to as “Africa’s Starchitect”. She founded AD Consulting( 1994) an international recognised architectural firm and Awesome Treasures Foundation (1999) an intercontinental philanthropic foundation recognised by the United Nations and part of the Edmond de Rothschild Foundation with a mission to raise 1000 leaders by 2030 working with Women and Youth. She has designed over 70 buildings.
