The "Urban Environments Initiative" (UEI) was founded by Christof Mauch, director of the RCC, in October 2019 as a joint project of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (LMU), Technical University of Munich (TUM), the University of Cambridge, and New York University. The program is intended to bring together researchers working on urban environmental issues and related topics.
Regine Keller, Head of the TUM Chair of Landscape Architecture and Public Space, has been "Affiliate Professor" at the Rachel Carson Centre (RCC) to lead the initiative. Together with Eveline Dürr (LMU), Prof. Regine Keller coordinated the project for the last two years. To conclude this academic leadership, a three-day event takes place on Wednesday, 30 June to Friday, 2 July from 13:00–18:00 (CEST) each day.

The online conference "Irritations and Unforeseen Consequences of the Urban" is open (and free) to the public.

Within the conference, UEI members and open panels are exploring three main themes including: Whose Urban “Nature;” Making Urban Environments; and Openness to or Foreclosure of Futures.
In addition, the keynote session "Debating Urban Climates" will be presented by Hannah Knox (University College London) and Anuradha Mathur (University of Pennsylvania) on 30 June from 16:15 to 17:30 (CEST).

To participate in the conference, registration (Zoom Registration Link) is required. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting
