New Visting Professor Aimilios Michael

Aimilios Michael is a visiting professor at the Chair of Building Construction and Material Science. His research activities take on an interdisciplinary perspective and focus on the areas of Energy and Environmental Design of Buildings and Advanced Architectural Technology.

Aimilios Michael Dipl.Arch.Eng., M.Sc., Ph.D. is Assistant Professor and director of a Master Programme in the Department of Architecture at the University of Cyprus. He holds a PhD in Environmental Design and Energy in Architecture. 

During the winter term 2019/20 Michael offers a seminar about Bioclimatic architecture, in which methods of building with salt are observed. The possible uses of a material normally considered as waste product are investigated further in this course.
His research priorities include Integrated Architectural Design & Technology, Energy & Environmental Design of Buildings on Contemporary and Vernacular Architecture, Adaptable Building Envelope Design, Innovative & Sustainable Construction Components and Materials. His architectural work places emphasis on energy and environmental architecture.

Michael has won several awards in architectural European and international competitions and was presented in several architectural exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad, including the 22nd Biennial of Industrial Design 2010 and the 12th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia 2010.
